Celebrating Easter: Learning and Fun in English

The Preschool and elementary students of Calasanz Cucuta School celebrated Easter with activities similar to those carried out in English-speaking countries. Using the figure of the Easter Bunny, which symbolizes spring and renewal, the students actively participated in a variety of engaging experiences. Throughout the day, they enjoyed games, songs, chants, and the traditional Egg Hunt, which created a joyful and dynamic learning environment for everyone involved.

This celebration provided an excellent opportunity to practise English in a natural, meaningful, and enjoyable way. During the different activities, children were exposed to and repeated Easter-related vocabulary such as egg, bunny, basket, colours, hunt, and expressions like Happy Easter. They also followed simple instructions in English, listened carefully to their teachers, and interacted with their classmates using basic phrases. This helped reinforce their listening and speaking skills in a context that felt fun and motivating rather than academic.

In addition, the activities encouraged creativity and participation. Students decorated eggs, sang themed songs, and worked in teams, which strengthened their social skills and confidence. The integration of language learning with play allowed them to absorb new vocabulary more effectively while enjoying the process.

Overall, the Easter celebration was both enjoyable and meaningful for the children, as it combined art, music, movement, and language learning in a positive and supportive environment. The students had fun, shared special moments with their classmates, and improved their English vocabulary through memorable experiences that will stay with them beyond the classroom.
