On last Tuesday September 23rd, the 1st grade students from our school had the chance to be in their Science/ English class, to learn vocabulary about the Solar System.
The class had a duration of 50 minutes, and it was performed in three scenarios. It started with the school morning prayer, followed by the roll call, then a short review about the previous contents the students have studied so far and then the introduction, of the topic through and educational English video.
After that, the teacher asked the students some questions related to the video, for example: How many planets are there? Is the sun a planet or a star? What is the earth? And the students were capable to answer these questions using English and Spanish words.
Next, the teacher focused the class on a short vocabulary (planet, sun, sphere, star and earth) in which the students watched, listened, repeated, wrote down in their notebooks and drew pictures of.
Finally, the teacher gave each student a cardboard representation of our planet earth for the students to colour and then place them at the back of the classroom, in where there is a chart intended for all students most significative English activities.
During the whole class the students showed excitement, joy, participation and a strong interest in learning and doing all the activities properly. It was definitely such a great experience for all of us.
